Pink Hair for A Cause
Come in during the month of October for a pink hair extension or pink hair clip-in extension ($15.00) and 75% of all proceeds will be donated to the Susan G. Komen OC chapter.
Starting October 1, you will be seeing a lot of pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Coincidentally, pink hair is all the rage right now, from runways to real life. So it seemed a no-brainer for Susie Smith, owner of Makin Waves Salon and Hollywood Hair Extensions to create a fun promotion inspired by her client, a breast cancer survivor, that combines charity with fashion. Susie's friendship with Diane Adams started long before the need for a haircut, when Susie was looking for a good insurance agent for her businesses. She met Diane in 1998 and a long friendship began. In 2004, Diane was diagnosed with breast cancer and went through a lumpectomy, radiation and chemo. Now, with long, flowing brown hair, Diane can enjoy her life cancer free. Besides being a successful insurance agent, Diane has a band, "Diane and the Deductables", where she plays alongside her husband Cliff Rehrig, former bass guitar player of Air Supply. Diane is also a strong supporter of Autism charities, having a 23 year old son with Autism.
"I was bald or had very short hair for many years after my cancer treatment so hair wasn't a priority," says Diane. "But every time I would visit Susie on insurance business, I would say to her, "I'll be back in that chair when I get some hair for you to cut!" She was always so supportive. Now I am happy to say my hair is long and I'm honored to clip in my PINK hair to support the month of Cancer Awareness."
